DESCRIPTION:On March 20 at 11:00 a.m.\, researcher Daniel Guerra will prese
 nt his doctoral thesis entitled &quot\;Filamentous Ascomycetes from Marine
  Substrates in the Mediterranean Basin: Diversity\, Novel Species\, and Bi
 otechnological Potential&quot\;\, marking the completion of his doctoral r
 esearch (PhD in Fungal Diversity and Phylogenetics).\n\nThe thesis focuses
  on marine filamentous ascomycetes\, microscopic fungi associated with a v
 ariety of marine substrates such as submerged wood\, algae\, and sediments
 . These organisms play an important role in marine ecosystems by contribut
 ing to the decomposition of organic matter and nutrient recycling. In addi
 tion\, some species are of biotechnological interest due to their ability 
 to produce bioactive compounds with potential applications in different fi
 elds.\n\nThis work provides new insights into the diversity of these fungi
  in the Mediterranean\, including the description of novel species and an 
 assessment of their biotechnological potential.
